Mahlon Dickerson Reservation is located in Jefferson Township, New Jersey and is the largest park in the Morris County park system. A major feature of the park is the Headley Overlook, which is one of the highest points in the county park system. The highest point within Morris County is located along the Pine Swamp Trail and is 1395 feet above sea level.

The magnificent Red Rock Canyon state park is the perfect place to explore this natural wonder, and visitors have been flocking to this site since the days of the Native Americans and probably even before.

Fishing Creek Wildlife Preserve is located in Del Haven, New Jersey and is part of the Cape May County park system. The preserve is alternatively known as Cape May County Park South and is the largest county-run park.

Much of the park is marsh and wetlands in the Delaware Bay Estuary. It is a stop along the Atlantic Flyway migratory route and is an excellent place for birding.

Brunet Island State Park is located on an island on Chippewa and Fisher rivers. It is part of the Wisconsin state park system and was developed in the late 1930s. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) contributed to the construction of the park.

Sourland Mountain Preserve is located in Hillsborough, New Jersey and is part of the Somerset County Park System. The preserve contains the northeast portion of the Sourland Region and features many outcrops.

The preserve offers family several opportunities within a quiet setting, including hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The white-blazed Ridge Trail is 5 miles long and ranges in difficulty from easy to moderate. An extension to the trail extends to Roaring Brook and a large boulder field.
