Ocala National Forest is located in central Florida north of Orlando. It is the southernmost national forest in the continental United States and the second largest in Florida. It was established in 1908 and is the oldest national forest east of the Mississippi River. Ocala protects the largest contiguous sand pine forest in the world and has over 600 lakes, rivers and springs.

Located in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, Blue Knob State Park provides a scenic destination within 25 miles of Altoona, Bedford and Johnstown. The park is named for Blue Knob, the second-highest peak within Pennsylvania. The park's elevation is higher than the surrounding area and snowfalls average 12 feet annually.

J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is located on Sanibel Island, Florida and protects 5200 acres of undeveloped mangrove ecosystem. The refuge is named for Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, J. N. "Ding" Darling, who became a major voice in the conservation movement. He conceived of the Federal Duck Stamp program, which raises money for wetland conservation, and illustrated the first stamp. Darling was appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to be the U.S.

Jekyll Island is a barrier island on Georgia's coast that is located midway between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida. The island is owned by state of Georgia and operated by the Jekyll Island Authority. Development is limited to 35 percent of the island, preserving most of it as native ecosystem.

The Middlesex Greenway is a 3.5 mile trail located in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The trail is located on an abandoned portion of Lehigh Valley rail corridor and the Middlesex County purchased the land in 2002 as a rails to trails project. The trail was officially dedicated on September 15, 2012.
