Seneca Creek State Park is located in Maryland that extends along 14 miles of Seneca Creek. The 90-acre Clopper Lake and surrounding day use area inludes forests and fields.

Canoeing and kayaking on Clopper Lake are popular family activities. The concession at the lake rents boats and there is a hand launch providing access to the water. There is also great fishing for largemouth bass, sunfish and trout.

Hunting Island State Park is South Carolina's most popular state park and is a great destination for family outdoor adventures. Located in the park is Hunting Island Lighthouse, which was built in the 1875 and was actively used until 1933. In the 1930's, the Civilian Conservation Corps developed the island into a state park.

Cleburne State Park is located in Johnson County, Texas and is named for the nearby town of Cleburne. A central feature of the park is the 116-acre spring-fed Cedar Lake and the 3-mile scenic roadway surrounding it. The park was created in the mid-1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).

Indian Cave State Park is located in Southeast Nebraska near the Missouri River. The park is named for a large sandstone cavity whose walls are etched with petroglyphs.

The Missouri River provides plenty of recreation opportunities for families. Boating is popular and a boat ramp provides river access. Fishing is available on the shoreline of the river and via boat.

Big Bend Ranch State Park is the largest state park within Texas. The park protects a large portion of the Chihuahuan Desert ecosystem and has 23 miles of frontage on the Rio Grande river. Within the park is Madrid Falls, the second highest waterfall within the state of Texas. The terrain around the falls is very rugged and they are difficult to access.
