Rocky Mountain National Park is located in Colorado and protects over a quarter of a million acres of the Rocky Mountain chain. The Continental Divide splits the park, resulting in the eastern and western portions of the park having different characteristics. The eastern portion of the park is typically drier and has glaciated peaks, while the western portion is typically wet and lush.

Cook Forest State Park is designated one of Twenty Must-See Pennsylvania State Parks by the Pennsylvania DCNR. The Clarion River runs through the park and offers paddling and trout fishing.

There are 29 miles of hiking trails, including a portion of the 140-mile Baker Trail. There are 24 rustic cabins and 210 campsites for overnight stays.

Bannack State Park

Bannack State Park is located near Dillon, MT and was the site of Montana's first major gold discovery in the mid-1800s. The resulting gold rush increased Bannack's population to over 3,000. It is now a ghost town with over 50 buildings lining Main Street. Bannack is designated a National Historic Landmark.

Glacier National Park is located in Northern Montana near the Canadian border. It is a vast area of land that is known for tall mountain peaks and beautiful lakes.

Due to it's shear size, there is a wealth of outdoor activities for families within the park. There are over 700 miles of hiking trails offering trips ranging from day hikes to extended excursions. There are 13 campgrounds within Glacier National Park. Backcountry camping is also permitted, but campers need to get a permit from the visitors center or a ranger office.

Bitterroot National Forest is located in west-central Montana and eastern Idaho in the Northern Rocky Mountains. Almost three quarters of the forest are within the state of Montana. The forest is largely comprised of conifers like pines, firs and spruces.
