Canyonlands National Park is located in southeastern Utah and protects landscape eroded by the Colorado River, the Green River and tributaries. The area is marked by canyons and mesas. The park is divided into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Maze, the Needles and the rivers.

The rivers provide great opportunities for water recreation. There is both flat water for family canoeing and whitewater for more advanced boaters.

Voyageurs National Park is located in Northern Minnesota near International Falls. The are four lakes within the park, Lake Kabetogama, Lake Namakan, Rainy Lake, and Sand Point Lake. All of the lakes straddle the United States- Canadian border, with the exception of Lake Kabetogama.

Bryce Canyon National Park is located in Southwestern Utah. The major attraction of the park is Bryce Canyon which is a huge natural amphitheater created by erosion. Rainbow Point is the highest part of the park at 9,105 feet and is located is at the terminus of an 18-mile scenic drive. The scenic drive provides access to 13 viewpoints overlooking the various amphitheaters throughout the park and it is a popular method for sightseeing.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located in Carlsbad, NM includes over 100 known caves. The caves were formed when sulfuric acid dissolved limestone underground.

Taking a cave tour is a popular activity. The Big Room is 8.2 acres in size and is partially wheelchair accessible. Entering the caves through the Natural Entrance is striking but difficult due to the steep trail.

There are plenty of opportunities for above-ground recreation. Hiking and backcountry camping are available. Campers must get a permit in advance of overnight stays and campfires are prohibited.
