Smith Rock State Park is located in central Oregon on the high desert plateau. Within the park, the Crooked River winds through large rock spires formed by volcanic activity. The rock cliffs are internationally known for rock climbing and there are hundreds of climbing routes within the park.

Kent Falls State Park is located in the northeastern part of Kent, Connecticut. The park is located in the Litchfield Hills, which is part of the southern Berkshire Mountains.

The focal point of the park is the series of waterfalls on a a tributary of the Housatonic River called Falls Brook that drop 250 feet in under a quarter mile. The largest cascade drops 70 feet into a reflecting pool. The falls are especially dramatic in the early spring after the snow melts and after a heavy rain.

Lake Murray State Park is Oklahoma's largest state park and is located in the south central portion of the state. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) constructed the park and employed nearly 17,000 men.

Lake Murray provides a wide range of water recreation. Boating is a popular activity and families can rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, jet skis, sailboats and ski boats.

Cave Lake State Park is located in White Pine County, Nevada adjacent to Humboldt National Forest. The park features a 32-acre reservoir that provides an array of water recreation.

Fishing is permitted on the reservoir 24 hours a day with a proper license. Rainbow trout and brown trout are among the fish that can be caught. Motorized boats are permitted on the reservoir, but may not exceed 5 miles per hour.

Roxborough State Park is a Colorado state park located in Douglas County 25 miles south of Denver. The park is known for its red sandstone rock formations and is recognized as a National Natural Landmark.

The park has 14 miles of trails for hiking that range in difficulty. Due to its ecological systems and unique geological features, pets, horses and mountain bikes are prohibited within the park. Roxborough State Park is a day use park and does not offer overnight camping.
