Jekyll Island is a barrier island on Georgia's coast that is located midway between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida. The island is owned by state of Georgia and operated by the Jekyll Island Authority. Development is limited to 35 percent of the island, preserving most of it as native ecosystem.

Humboldt Lagoons State Park protects three lagoons on the Pacific Coast in northwest California which are part of the nation's largest lagoon system. Big Lagoon is the largest lagoon and located to the south, Stone Lagoon is located in the middle, and Freshwater Lagoon is the smallest and northernmost lagoon. Dry Lagoon was previously drained by farmers and is now a wetland area.

Reid State Park is located on Georgetown Island in Sagadahoc County, Maine. The island is located on the Atlantic coast in southern Maine. The was created in 1946 when Walter E. Reid donated the land to the State of Maine and represents Maine's first state-owned saltwater beach.

Reid State Park contains several wide sandy beaches, which are uncommon on the Maine coastline. Families can enjoy swimming and fishing in the waters or a hike on one of the trails. There is a picnic area and food service available.
