Famous for its giant Sequoia trees, Sequoia National Park is located in the southern Sierra Nevada region of California. It is adjacent to and jointly managed with Kings Canyon National Park. Sequoia National Park has a vertical relief of 13,000 feet and includes Mount Whitney, the highest point in the 48 contiguous United States.

President Theodore Roosevelt established Pinnacles National Monument in 1906 and was designated a National Park by legislation President Barack Obama signed into law on January 10, 2013. This legislation established Pinnacles as Califonia's ninth national park.

Located in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, Blue Knob State Park provides a scenic destination within 25 miles of Altoona, Bedford and Johnstown. The park is named for Blue Knob, the second-highest peak within Pennsylvania. The park's elevation is higher than the surrounding area and snowfalls average 12 feet annually.

The park covers an area larger than the state of Rhode Island and includes portions of two deserts, the Mojave Desert and the Colorado Desert.
