Famous for its giant Sequoia trees, Sequoia National Park is located in the southern Sierra Nevada region of California. It is adjacent to and jointly managed with Kings Canyon National Park. Sequoia National Park has a vertical relief of 13,000 feet and includes Mount Whitney, the highest point in the 48 contiguous United States.

Pinnacles National Park is located in San Benito & Monterey Counties, California. President Theodore Roosevelt established Pinnacles National Monument in 1906 and was designated a National Park by legislation President Barack Obama signed into law on January 10, 2013. This legislation established Pinnacles as Califonia's ninth national park.

Big Bend National Park is a remote park on the United States/Mexican border in Far West Texas. The park contains over 800,000 acres of the Chihuahuan Desert and is larger than the state of Rhode Island. 244 miles of the famous Rio Grande river flow through the park.

City of Rocks National Reserve is located in South Central Idaho and is governed by both the National Park Service and the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. The reserve protects a portion of the historic California Trail and its landscape filled with granite pinnacles and monoliths.

City of Rocks is well known for rock climbing and there are over 700 climbing routes developed. Its granite spires range from 30 to 300 feet high and offer moderate to advanced difficulty.

Roxborough State Park is a Colorado state park located in Douglas County 25 miles south of Denver. The park is known for its red sandstone rock formations and is recognized as a National Natural Landmark.

The park has 14 miles of trails for hiking that range in difficulty. Due to its ecological systems and unique geological features, pets, horses and mountain bikes are prohibited within the park. Roxborough State Park is a day use park and does not offer overnight camping.
