Idaho Outdoor Destinations

Idaho is located in the Northwest United States in the Rocky Mountain region and offers a variety of terrain. The state features large mountain ranges, rivers, lakes and steep canyons. Idaho's highest point is the 12,662-foot Borah Peak, in the Lost River Range. The famous Snake River courses through the state and forms Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in the county. Other major rivers include the Clark Fork/Pend Oreille River, the Clearwater River and the Salmon River.

Idaho contains a number of public lands offering family outdoor recreation. There are 10 national parks & monuments, 2 national recreation areas, 6 national wildlife refuges and a national conservation area. Idaho also maintains 30 state parks and a number of county parks.
