Maine Outdoor Destinations
Maine is well known for its rugged beauty and is a great place for families to explore the outdoors. The state has a variety of terrain, including a mountains, lakes, rivers and a rocky coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. Moosehead Lake in the Longfellow Mountains is the largest lake that is located entirely within New England.
Maine's is home to Acadia National Park and contains 32 state parks. Families can enjoy a range of outdoor recreation, including hiking, camping, canoeing and kayaking. The northern terminus of the famous Appalachian Trail is in Baxter State Park.
