Missouri Outdoor Destinations
Missouri is nicknamed the "Show Me State" and is part of the midwestern United States. It is bordered my the Mississippi River to the east and its namesake Missouri River flows from west to east to connect Kansas City and St. Louis. The state's elevation ranges from 230 feet above sea level at the Arkansas border to 1,772 feet at Taum Sauk Mountain.
Missouri offers a wide variety of outdoor recreation for families to explore. There are 83 state parks and protected areas that represent over 200,000 acres. Camping is a popular activity in Missouri and the state park system contains approximately 3700 campsites and 190 cabins. Hikers can enjoy almost 850 miles of trails in Missouri.
