Worthington State Forest is located in Northwest New Jersey near the Delaware Water Gap. A popular attraction is Sunfish Pond, a glacial lake that is surrounded by chestnut oak trees and prominent boulders. Old Mine Road traverses the park in the lower elevations near the Delaware River. It was once used by fur traders and to move materials from local mines & quarries.
Worthington State Forest contains 26 miles of hiking trails, including 7 miles of the Appalachian Trail. The terrain is some of the most difficult within the state of New Jersey. Families are advised to prepare accordingly and wear proper footwear. There are 69 campsites for overnight stays in the campsite along the Delaware River.
