Utah Outdoor Destinations

Utah is known for great outdoor recreation and its vast areas of rugged terrain. The landscape is made up of mountains, canyons, rivers and valleys. Most of Utah is located on a plateau higher with elevations greater than 4,000 feet above sea level and the highest elevation in the state is over 13,000 feet. All of this natural landscape is within proximity to Salt Lake City.

Within Utah are five major national parks, including the famous Arches National Park. The Utah Department of Natural Resources manages 43 state parks. All of this makes for a wealth of outdoor recreation, like skiing, hiking, camping and whitewater boating.
